2:00 PM–5:00 PM Oct 24, 2018 (US - Eastern)

Convention Center, Room W311AB, Level III

This interactive session will introduce attendees to the comprehensive care that physiatrists are able to provide on the sideline of sporting events. There will be brief lectures reviewing the theoretical components of sideline medicine, which include pre-game planning, on-field positioning, and evidence-based techniques for spine immobilization. This will be followed by small group sessions for practical experience. Participants will be able to develop skills including the assessment of a gear-equipped athlete, spine boarding and immobilization, concussion assessment, splinting, and the focused assessment with sonography for trauma (FAST) exam.
