Ultrasonography is a rapidly developing area of sports medicine that has many different applications, which can be used in the clinic, training room, and even on thesidelines. Recently, portable ultrasound machines are becoming increasingly available, leading to prompt ultrasonographic diagnosis of sports injuries on the field. Application of ultrasound to sports injuries facilitates localization and accurate diagnosis of the lesions, helps clarify the staging and severity of the injuries, and aids clinicians to tailor management plans. In this hands-on workshop, we will be covering US evaluation of common sports injuries where US is best utilized at the point of care, as well as on-field E-FAST (extended focused assessment with sonography for trauma) which provides important initial screening examination for potential life threatening injuries that could occur on the field.
