Orthotics to improve walking are an area of known expertise for physiatrists, training in how to select and optimize these devices is limited as the complexity and variety of the devices has increased over time. Understanding gait and applying biomechanics knowledge to orthotic prescription is essential. This course will use lectures and interactive video cases to educate the audience on normal and pathological gait and orthotic devices to address gait deviations and the resulting functional impairment.
