This is an education session designed to increase awareness of the clinical utility of the gait and motion analysis in the musculoskeletal and sports medicine practice. Gait and motion analysis is increasingly available in PM&R with a vast amount of research on musculoskeletal and sports medicine. However, the clinical applications are limited to elite athletes to improve performance in the laboratory setting or academic institutions. Its application in non-elite athletes and patients with common musculoskeletal disorders are limited. This session will review basic principles of gait and motion analysis, evidence-based indications, clinical applications in musculoskeletal and sports medicine, limitations, and current barriers to applying in clinical practice.
